Robert S. Tucker Welcomes Congressman King to ALDONYS Dinner

November 06, 2010

The Honorable Peter T. King, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 3rd Congressional District and incoming Chair of the Homeland Security Committee, was honored at the Associated Licensed Detectives of New York State (ALDONYS) Biennial Dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel on November 6, 2010. The event also noted the impending expiration of Robert S. Tucker’s two-year term as President of the group, which ends officially on December 31st.

"As the leadership of the organization prepares to change hands, I want to commend the current board and those members of ALDONYS who have been active and have contributed to our strength," Mr. Tucker said in his welcoming remarks. "We must all pledge our support for the new slate of officers who will take over in 2011 because it will take a great deal more effort to move ALDONYS’s agenda forward in the coming year with a new legislature and governor taking office and hoping to energize Albany. We will need to be a lot more proactive to make our voice heard in opposition to legislation unfavorable to our industry and to promote legislation that is good for us."

Mr. Tucker emphasized the importance of ALDONYS in providing a stronger and more effective voice on behalf of the security industry. "As an industry that employs 145,000 licensed guards, we are a significant factor in employment and the economy and we need to utilize that leverage more effectively," Mr. Tucker said.

In addition to presenting Congressman King with the ALDONYS 2010 Person of the Year Award, recognition was given to Theresa A. Balfe, who received the 2010 Investigator of the Year Award, and John M. Beck, CPP, who received the Eugene R. Fink Memorial Award.
