T&M Receives SAFETY Act Designation & Certification for EDC Services

SAFETY Act Designation & Certification is issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

April 08, 2011

NEW YORK, NY – April 8, 2011 – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today awarded T&M Protection Resources, LLC (T&M) its prestigious SAFETY Act Designation and Certification for Explosive Detection Canine (EDC) Services.  This Designation and Certification places T&M’s EDC Services on the DHS’s "Approved Product List for Homeland Security."

T&M’s EDC Services, which is also the only private explosive detection canine program certified by the International Police Work Dog Association - the foremost authority on explosive detection canines, features teams of highly trained and certified chemical detector canines working with highly trained handlers and bomb technicians expert in the latest detection technology.  Guided by their handlers, the canines work to identify the presence of a defined group of common explosives and constituent odor signature chemicals, including peroxide-based explosives (TATP, HMTD).  The canines are used to screen individuals, packages, vehicles, venues, special events and locations for conventional explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDS).  T&M offers conventional explosive detection canine services and is the first and only private security firm in the U.S. to offer Vapor Wake explosive detection canine services.

"We are extremely gratified that our explosive detection canine program has earned SAFETY Act Designation and Certification by the Department of Homeland Security," said Robert S. Tucker, Chairman & CEO of T&M Protection Resources.  "This validates our highly sophisticated explosive detection canine program and mitigates the potential liability costs for providers of anti-terrorism products and services under the Homeland Security Act of 2002," Mr. Tucker added.

The SAFETY Act is intended to provide critical incentives for the development and deployment of anti-terrorism technologies by providing liability protections for Sellers of "qualified anti-terrorism technologies."  It ensures that the possessors of such anti-terrorism technologies are not deterred by the threat of liability from developing and commercializing products and technologies that could save lives in the event of a terrorist attack.
