Lisa M. Friel Evaluates Sandusky's Decision to Waive Hearing

When Penn State's former football coach Jerry Sandusky waived his right to confront his accusers at a preliminary hearing, Lisa M. Friel, T&M's Vice President of Sexual Misconduct Consulting & Investigations division, commented to Reuters that Sandusky's legal team "decided that the advantage they might have gotten out of going forward with a hearing was outweighed by how bad they were going to look in the media." She further commented that "Given that there are so many victims, they didn't have a chance of prevailing on the hearing or perhaps intimidating the witnesses into not going forward by insisting on the hearing."
